The ’Burbs

So, it’s official…

We’re hanging up our city walking shoes and making the move to the suburbs!

But let me first give you a little backstory so this doesn’t seem like it’s coming out of left field. When we found out we were pregnant with our third, a few realities suddenly hit us. Like WOW, we’re having a third kiddo 😅. And CRAP, where will we put it?! So we immediately began contemplating our options: stay in the city and live with a baby in our Master room (we have two spare rooms but they’re in the basement, not an ideal place for kids our ages) or make the “long” trek out to the ‘burbs.

The suburbs have always been in the back of our minds, a move we would eventually make simply for a little more green space. But with the impending arrival of our fifth family member, it looked like we’d be making that transition sooner rather than later.

We’ve actually been house hunting for the past several months, but have mostly kept it under wraps because 1) does anyone really care? 😅 and 2) you just never know how the process will go. And to be honest, our “process” was anything but smooth. Kind of a long and bumpy road actually…

But without getting into the boring details, I know in my heart we ended up exactly where we’re supposed to be. Because just when we were about to throw in the house hunting towel (after walking away from a house during the inspection period and having another pulled out from under us after a fourth offer), my hubby convinced me to see just a few more listings. Then lo’ and behold, we walked into what would ultimately be our new home. And suddenly, all of the previous months up and down emotions (and there were a lot of them!) were thrown out the window. And I truly believe we landed in the house that was made for our family. A house I’m already picturing bringing our third little to and raising our small army of crazy kiddos.

Making themselves right at home!

However, I have to admit it’s a very bittersweet time. We have always loved the city of Chicago and have come to love our neighbors more than we probably ever thought possible. I mean, neighbors can be so hit or miss, right? But we’re one of the lucky ones who became great friends with (particularly a few) families on our block, both parents and kids alike. And as hopeful as I am for the future, I know this group will be hard to beat.

One thing is for sure: this group knows how to have fun!

Nevertheless, I know there are exciting things ahead and memories to be made in our new locale. Our littles will create their childhood memories in our new town and I really couldn’t be more elated with the house we’ll soon call home. A beautiful city, a beautiful home, and a healthy family to enjoy it with, this mama couldn’t ask for more.

So, cheers to bittersweet endings, new beginnings, and everything in between. Here we go!

P.S. I must give a shout out to our incredible realtor, Nellie McCarthy. Despite the bumps and bruises we all incurred along our house hunting journey, Nellie was tried and true. Never pushy, laid back, and always honest when we solicited. I can say I genuinely enjoyed exploring our new town with her and would absolutely recommend her to anyone in the Chicago area!
